Social media marketing exposes your business to a large potential client base, helping you to grow over time. With an ever-growing number of social media websites on the Internet, content creation is becoming an increasingly important aspect of any marketing campaign. The key to using social media marketing wisely is knowing how to create effective content and where that content will do the most good.

Know Your Options

There are a variety of social media sites that businesses can utilize to keep current consumers informed and draw in new clients. These sites include Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. Take some time to determine which of these sites is best for your business; after you’ve developed a list of sites you want to utilize, you’ll be better able to develop appropriate content.

Tailor Your Content

Your social media content should be tailored to the site on which you plan to post it. Sites such as Instagram and Tumblr are photo-based platforms, while Twitter and Facebook can utilize text alone, or text and images. When developing your content, keep a few rules in mind: always make your content original and worth reading, and keep your content relevant to your consumers’ interests. Encourage others to engage in your content by asking questions or soliciting opinions and feedback.

Create a Social Media Marketing Calendar

Because various social media sites benefit from different posting frequencies, creating a central calendar will help you keep track of how often you should be posting to each site. For example, successful Twitter campaigns benefit from multiple tweets per day; other sites, such as Google Plus, Facebook, and LinkedIn, only require new content once per day or every few days.
